The eight parishes of Kimpton, Fyfield, Thruxton, Quarley, Amport, Monxton, Abbotts Ann and Upper Clatford came together in 2021 with the common aim of working with Southern Water to remove tankers from our villages and eliminate the need to overpump treated sewage into our chalk stream, the Pillhill Brook.
Progress was slow until Southern Water made us a Pathfinder Project in May 2022 led by Keith Herbert. Since then, working closely together, we have significant and measurable progress, although challenges still remain. Despite unprecidented levels of groundwater:
1) SW have not overpumped into the brook since the winter of 2021/22
2) on 3 May 2024 the last tanker left our villages.
At the start of this endeavour we named ourselves the Pan Parish Forum (PPF) however other groups of parishes want to use our model with Southern water and new Pan Parish groups are being set up. i.e. the Pan Parish River Pollution Forum headed up by Houghton PC. So in order to avoid confusion we are renaming ourselves the Pillhill Pan Parish Forum (PPPF) so it is clear who and where we are.
The Pillhill Pan Parish Forum meet with senior management of Southern Water on a quarterly basis and minutes of these meetings can be found below.
The date of the next Quarterly Meeting is yet to be decided but likely to be early May.
