Sunday’s Mucky Duck Race, held on the Village Green, was extremely well attended by many from Monxton, Amport and nearby villages. Our newly-elected local MP, Kit Malthouse also came along to see the fun, accompanied by his family – and to meet villagers. There were five duck races and all the ducks were sold out. The event raised £375 which will be shared between the Hawk Conservancy and Amport & Monxton Community Charity.
Amport School PTA also raised money from their brilliant duck decorating and face painting, and the delicious Broughton Water Buffalo burgers sold out as well. The Black Swan bar on the green was very popular too.
The prizes for the duck race winners were wonderful little rubber ducks mounted on an engraved plinth, along with some lovely prizes from the race sponsors.
So same again next year – but with more ducks!
