Responding to requests from the community, the Amport & Monxton Community Charity have used proceeds from our successful village fêtes and have purchased a defibrillator which will be stored in the locked cabinet on the side of The Hawk Inn, to be used in emergencies. Where appropriate, the ambulance service will give the cabinet access code to those in the area who make an emergency call.
Every minute that passes for a patient in cardiac arrest without access to a defibrillator equates to a 10% reduction in survival time. Areas with a dedicated programme have been shown to report survival rates of up to 74%, much higher than in areas without one. The defibrillator is very user-friendly and you don’t need training to use it.
If you are interested in being a community responder, so that villagers who are on their own can call for assistance in getting the defibrillator (after calling for the ambulance) then please get in touch. email@example.com
